The Mohegan tribe of Connecticut runs one of the world’s most successful casinos, but regional competition and economic recession have severely impacted gaming revenue. The tribe was a finalist in several Massachusetts ventures, but failed to win a license. Bobby Soper has recently replaced Mitchell Etess as president of the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, the company that operates all the tribe’s gaming ventures, and explains how diversification will benefit the tribe, its members, employees and customers. Soper was in Asia to discuss the tribe’s proposed joint venture to own and operate a casino at Incheon Airport in South Korea. He spoke with GGB Publisher Roger Gros at G2E Asia in May.
