When IGT spent 0 million to buy DoubleDown Interactive, the creators of the DoubleDown Casino on Facebook, analysts scratched their heads. After all, this social casino was not quite in IGT’s wheelhouse, and the price paid was considered excessive. Fast forward two years and the views on the social gaming industry have changed greatly, and IGT’s DoubleDown is producing positive cash flow for the company. Charles Harper, the director of business development for DoubleDown, explains how the company has built the business and what the future holds. He discusses the purely social nature of the games on DoubleDown and how they can be used by casinos to create casino customers.
