Studio City Macau is not only a remarkable architectural achievement, it’s also something of a resurrection for a building that was left for dead years ago. Along with Melco Crown Co-Chairman Lawrence Ho, Gary Goddard re-imagined what was possible and desirable in the gaming capital of Asia. Studio City features a wide array of entertainment choices, as well as five-star rooms, food and beverage, and other non-gaming amenities. But the signature of the building is a figure-8 ferris wheel built into the structure, symbolizing not only the lucky number in Asia but a dramatic, cinema graphic event of two asteroids smashing through the center of the building. Goddard spoke with GGB Publisher Roger Gros during one of his Asian excursions in October to talk about the design of Studio City for the cover story of Casino Design magazine, released in December 2015.
