GLOBAL GAMING BUSINESS PODCAST: Jay Snowden, Chief Operating Officer, Penn National Gaming

This week, the GGB Podcast sits down with Jay Snowden, the COO of Penn National Gaming, on the recent spinoff of much of the company’s realty as well as the purchase of the Tropicana in Las Vegas.

Penn National Gaming has long been the number-three gaming operations company in the U.S. With innovative management, Penn recently was the first to spin off the real estate of its company into a real estate investment trust, or a REIT. Around the same time, it purchased the Tropicana in Las Vegas, fulfilling a long-sought-after dream of a Strip location. But Penn’s strengths remain in its regional casinos and its Hollywood brand. Jay Snowden has an extensive casino management background with Caesars Entertainment, and joined the company several years ago as COO. Under his oversight, there has been expansion and improved operational performance. He talks about the differences of operating alongside a REIT and what the company plans for the Tropicana. He spoke with GGB Editor Frank Legato from his offices in Pennsylvania in December.
