The Downtown Grand, formerly Lady Luck, in Downtown Las Vegas, opened more than a year ago, but the property hasn’t taken off the way the owners wanted. Located a couple of blocks of the center of Downtown, Fremont Street, the casino has struggled to gain an audience with in a very diverse marketplace that blends Las Vegas visitors and locals. Jim Simms, the new CEO, plans to use gambling as the centerpiece of the renovated property, with one of the most generous players loyalty programs, and special gaming events like a 0,000 slot tournament. But the property has other pluses such as being located across the street from the popular Mob Museum, as well as offering one of Downtown’s most popular restaurants, Triple George. Simms met with GGB Publisher Roger Gros in September at the Downtown Grand to discuss his plans.
