As Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs in the Department of the Interior, Kevin Washburn is playing a role in some of the most significant federal progress for Indian Country over the past half century. At a speech delivered to attendees of the National Indian Gaming Association’s trade show in San Diego earlier this month, Washburn explained how some of the major accomplishments under the Obama administration have been a long time coming. He also outlined what he is targeting over the last year of his tenure. He was introduced to the audience by NIGA Chairman Ernie Stevens Jr.
