Mark Giannantonio has been an Atlantic City casino executive for many years. Now running Resorts Atlantic City after many years at the Tropicana, Giannantonio explains how the city’s oldest casino has been able to stay competitive in a distressed market. When owner Morris Bailey bought Resorts for million in 2010, he brought in the late Dennis Gomes to transform the property. After Gomes’ death, Bailey brought in the Mohegan Gaming group to run the property and transformed part of Resorts into Margaritaville, the iconic brand made famous by Jimmy Buffet. Other renovations to the older casino have increased revenue, and Resorts is now one of the healthiest casinos on the Boardwalk. Although this interview with GGB Publisher Roger Gros took place in August, Giannantonio also discusses the PokerStars partnership, which finally came to fruition last week.
