The combination of Bally Technologies and SHFL entertainment resulted in a challenge to incorporate the two companies together. Game development wasn’t a real issue since SHFL was predominantly tables and Bally is slots, Mike Mitchell, Bally Technologies’ VP of game development and engineering, says he’s been able to utilize some of SHFL’s expertise. He says the new SHFL additions are talented and incredibly smart and fit nicely within the Bally organization. Mitchell explains how brands are good attractors, but the game has to hold up when the players arrive at the machine. Joining the discussion is John Vallejo, senior director of gaming development.
