In Europe, Novomatic is the 800-pound gorilla in the market, with a vast market share. In North America, not so much. The company recently promoted Rick Meitzler to the position of president of its American division expecting to boost that presence. He was previously vice president of North American sales. Meitzler has vast experience in the North America, serving with Bally Technologies, where he was most recently director of Midwest sales focusing on the Illinois VLT market, and Ainsworth Game Technologies, where he helped introduce that company to the American market. He discusses the Novomatic products and his strategies for introducing the successful European games and systems to the U.S. market, and how the recent consolidations of slot manufacturers will affect that strategy. He met with GGB Publisher Roger Gros at the ICE tradeshow in London in February.
