Atlantic City has seen more downs than ups over the past year, but one of the most encouraging signs was a million investment into the Tropicana, one of the success stories on the Boardwalk. The hotel recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Quarter, the shopping and dining area of the hotel, and now adds more non-gaming amenities. Steve Callender, the resort’s general manager, sat down with Frank Legato, GGB editor, to explain how an outdoor light show, renovated hotel rooms, new retailers and a fitness center operated by AtlantiCare will make the Tropicana a must-see attraction in Atlantic City. He says the target market of meetings and conventions will respond to the new attractions. Legato spoke with Callender in one of the newly renovated rooms at the Tropicana two weeks ago.
