Goa Boats Still in Mandovi

The Goa government is taking its time deciding where four casino cruise ships will be relocated. The four vessels, now anchored in the Mandovi River, were supposed to have been moved by March 31.

The government of Goa has yet to decide an alternate site for offshore casinos, the Times of India has reported. The state cabinet had decided that four casino boats would be moved from the Mandovi River to other locations by March 31.

“The cabinet has to take the decision. I cannot decide anything on my own. The cabinet will meet this week and take the decision,” Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said last week. Alternate sites under consideration include the River Zuari, Aguada Bay, Chapora and Sal.
