Goa Mimics Macau Structure

The Indian state of Goa has revised its gaming regulations based on the legal framework observed in Macau. The draft legislation was due to be reviewed by lawmakers before the end of the year.

Goa has redrafted its gaming rules, with proposed legislation set to be reviewed by the state government at the end of December, according to the Times of India. The publication reported that Goa used Macau as a model for its new regulatory practices, which include improved standards of video documentation.

Currently, only two states in India have legal casino gaming, Goa and Sikkim. Goa leads the industry with 15 onshore and cruise-ship casinos. Sikkim has two land-based gaming halls.
