Golden Nugget Louisiana Changes Mean Later Opening

The Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, Louisiana recently received approval from the state gaming commission to open at the end of the year, not by July 12. Officials from the casino-resort said they want to increase the number of hotel rooms instead of offering other amenities.

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board recently approved modifications in the license for the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, resulting in moving the project completion date from July 12 to on or before December 30.

The changes include increasing the number of hotel rooms to 720, instead of building a croquet area, tennis courts and pleasure-boat docking. Golden Nugget officials also said they also plan to build a golf course clubhouse.

Board Chairman Ronnie Jones said he’s excited for this project and for the economic development it will bring to the area. He added he will continue work with the Golden Nugget to get the project done and open for the public.
