Officials at Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort near Larchwood, Iowa recently announced a $10 million expansion project, including a $1.5 million sports betting facility.

Grand Falls General Manager Sharon Haselhoff said the current Show Lounge will be removed and the space transformed into a sportsbook. “I would say the guts or the foundation for the sportsbook truly are there. It will really be removing the stage and then adding a lot of technology,” she said. The area will feature large overhead television screens and monitors, betting kiosks, teller desks and a bar plus a food menu provided by Ruthie’s Steak & Seafood.

Bettors will be able to place wagers on kiosks or at live teller desks. Also, Haselhoff explained, “In Iowa, once you’ve signed up for an account you’d be able to place those bets on your phone as well. We hope to have it ready by the NFL season.”

A live entertainment stage will be added to the bar and lounge area in the center of the gaming floor, Haselhoff said.

Renovations at the property also will include $8.5 million for a new hotel wing and RV park sites. The new 63-room hotel wing will bring the total number of rooms to 160. Rooms on the lower level will have direct access to the outdoor pool. Haselhoff said an elevated corridor will overlook the pool and offer access to the new hotel wing. In addition, the RV park will expand from 14 to 25 sites. Haselhoff said these improvements will be completed by next summer.

The next phase at the casino resort, opened in 2011, will include renovating the entire casino floor and the restaurants. All of the existing hotel rooms were renovated last year. “We’ve always been consistent with our business philosophy of reinvesting in our properties and keeping them pristine. We’re just really excited about these new additions and I think it will be a nice addition to our entire resort and what we have built already,” Haselhoff said.
