Grand Korea Reopens in Seoul

South Korean casino operator Grand Korea Leisure has reopened its casinos in Seoul. The Seven Luck-branded Gangnam COEX (l.) and Gangbuk Hilton were back in business as of Monday, March 15.

Grand Korea Leisure Co. Ltd. (GKL), which operates foreigners-only casinos in South Korea, has reopened its Seven Luck-branded Gangnam COEX and Gangbuk Hilton casinos in Seoul. The doors reopened at 9 a.m. on March 15, according to an online corporate announcement.

Grand Korea Leisure is a subsidiary of the Korea Tourism Organization, part of the country’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Grand Korea Leisure also controls the Busan Lotte casino in the southern port city of Busan, which reopened February 15. Both Seoul properties had been closed since November 24.

According to GGRAsia, Gangnam COEX will limit its daily number of guests to 185, compared to the norm of 925. Gangbuk Hilton will limit its daily guest tally to 148 versus a daily capacity of 740.

As of March 17, South Korea had 469 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, for a total of 96,849 confirmed cases and 1,686 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
