VIP room will open before the end of the year
Boutique casino developer and operator Silver Heritage Group, which opened its Tiger Palace Resort Bhairahawa in Nepal on December 31, will have a grand opening in March as well as a separate launch event in the capital of Kathmandu.
In a filing to the Australian Securities Exchange, Silver Heritage also confirmed that Tiger Palace will open a VIP room with eight tables in the fourth quarter of this year.
The company says it has a five-year plan to develop “multiple world-class casinos,” reported GGRAsia. A filing from Silver Heritage in late September mentioned plans for a second Nepal casino resort. Silver Heritage will also focus on the Indian consumer market, which some analysts say has been overlooked by operators focusing on high-spending Asian gamblers.
Currently, the “only lawful Indian casino gaming is in Goa, more than 2,000 kilometers (1,243 miles) away, and Sikkim, more than 750 kilometers away,” stated Silver Heritage in its business update. “India will have the world’s largest middle-class consumption on an annual basis by 2030: US$12.8 trillion, versus US$10 trillion in China,” stated the casino firm, citing research from the U.S.-based Brookings Institution.
At its soft opening in December, Tiger Palace had 44 gaming tables and 216 electronic gaming machines. “On New Year’s Eve, over 400 guests enjoyed the casino and the hotel occupancy was at capacity,” stated the update. The filing also said the resort’s 100-room hotel, which opened in September, has won a five-star rating from the country’s Ministry of Tourism.
Silver Heritage also runs the Millionaire’s Club and Casino in Kathmandu and the Phoenix International Club, near Hanoi in Vietnam.
