Grand Portage Lodge and Casino Refurbished

A ribbon cutting was held celebrating the completion of extensive renovations at the Grand Portage Lodge and Casino (l.) in Grand Portage, Minnesota. The project included a new lobby with a 3-story atrium, new casino, restaurant and bar renovations, room and suite upgrades, new meeting rooms and a swimming pool complex.

Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in Grand Portage, Minnesota, recently held a ribbon cutting to debut its extensive renovations. Norman Deschampe, chairman of the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Indians, owners and operators of the property, said, “We are so glad that the dust has settled and the building phase is over. The new Grand Portage Lodge and Casino offers guests excellent facilities to stay, play, eat and host meetings and banquets right here on the North Shore. Our location is spectacular, our doors are open and we want to share this wonderful place.”

The refurbished interior featuring a spectacular views from a 3-story atrium honors the indigenous culture of Grand Portage and the Grand Portage tribe. The new casino offers more than 425 slot machines and table games. The project also included a new casino deli and gift shop.

The renovated Antlers Lounge offers an 8-tap draft system and big screen TVs, and the iconic Island View Dining Room has been refurbished. Every room and suite has been renovated in the hotel, which also now offers a new event center and meeting rooms and a swimming pool complex with direct access to Portage Bay. Grand Portage Lodge and Casino Marketing Manager Frank Vecchio said, “We’ve had bookings for family occasions, bridal and baby showers, weddings, birthday getaways and many other celebrations. Everyone loves the new spaces, especially our beautiful pool complex with direct outdoor access to Portage Bay. I don’t think there’s a better place to stay and play on the North Shore.”
