On January 24, Macau gaming operator Sands China Ltd. announced that it has named former Chief Operating Officer Grant Chum as the firm’s new president and chief executive officer.

Chum will replaced Rob Goldstein, who has led the Macau unit of the Las Vegas Sands Corp. since the death of Sands founder Sheldon Adelson in January 2021. Goldstein will continue to serve as the chairman of Sands China as well as maintain his role as the chairman and CEO of the overall company, reports Macao News.

Chum was employed by UBS Investment Bank for 14 years before joining the Sands Corp. as senior vice president of global gaming strategy in July 2013. He became Sands China’s chief of staff in November 2015, and was promoted to COO in February 2020.

In other appointments, Wilfred Wong, currently president and executive director of the company, has been appointed to a new position, executive vice chairman. Dave Sun has become executive vice president of the company and will continue to serve as chief financial officer. Dylan Williams has also been named executive vice president, adding to his roles as general counsel and company secretary.

One of Macau’s Big 6 gaming concessionaires, Sands China operates Sands Macao, the Venetian Macao, the Parisian Macao, the Londoner Macao, the Plaza Macao and Sands Cotai Central. It is majority-owned by its U.S.-based parent company, which holds a 70 percent stake.
