Great Women of Gaming Awards Presented

The 2018 Great Women of Gaming awards, sponsored by Global Gaming Women, were presented at the Global Gaming Expo. The awards recognize and encourage outstanding achievements by women in the gaming industry. Nevada Gaming Control Board Chairwoman Becky Harris (l.) presented the awards to Pokin Yeung, Julia Boguslawski, Dale Merrill, Michelle Schenk and Debra Nutton.

Great Women of Gaming Awards Presented

Global Gaming Women honored the winners of its 2018 Great Women of Gaming awards on October 8 at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas. The awards recognize and encourage outstanding achievements by women in the gaming industry. Global Gaming Women President Phyllis Gilland said, “Each in her own way has helped to move the gaming industry forward. We congratulate each of this year’s nominees who represent the diversity, skill and leadership of the most accomplished women in the gaming industry.”

Game Changer Category
Pokin Yeung – Founder and chief executive officer of Absolute Games. Yeung sold her company to Penn Interactive Ventures and currently is employed by them.

Leadership Category
Julia Boguslawski – Chief marketing officer and executive vice president of investor relations at AGS.

Service Star Category
Dale Merrill – Senior vice president of human resources and administration at Foxwoods Resort Casino.

Rising Star Category
Michelle Schenk – Senior manager for global communications at IGT.

Lifetime Achievement Category
Debra Nutton – Executive vice president of casino operations at Wynn Las Vegas and Encore Resort.

The Great Women of Gaming Awards originally were created by Casino Enterprise Management Magazine and Peter Mead in 2004. Global Gaming Women took them over in 2016 and broadened their scope to increase awareness, strengthen prestige and celebrate the success of women in the worldwide gaming industry. The awards also seek to engage more women in gaming-related fields and to further Global Gaming Women’s goal of diversity in leadership.
