Greece to Cut OPAP VLTs

The Greek government has proposed that gaming operator OPAP be permitted to run a total of 25,000 video lottery machines, down from the current number of 35,000.

The Greek government may impose a limit on the number of video lottery machines that may be operated by private operator OPAP. According to the news website ekathimerini.com, the country’s finance ministry said reducing the number of machines would limit gambling problems in the country and allow authorities to maintain more effective control of the industry.

OPAP has said it will conclude the rollout of 16,500 VLTs by May 2018 and subcontract another 18,000 machines.
