Greek Airport to Become Casino?

The former Elliniko International Airport site (l.) in Greece may become a casino, according to local reports. Sources say the government has already approved a casino license.

The government of Greece may have plans for a former airport in Athens that closed in 2001. According to the Greek Reporter, the Elliniko International Airport may be the site of a future integrated resort with gaming.

The resort will reportedly include a 40-story to 45-story hotel tower and multi-use complex as well as a casino. Lamda Development and Hellinikon Global were named as partners in the plan, in an investment unnamed sources said could be worth “tens of millions euros.”
