No opening date announced
Global gaming technology firm Novomatic has won a 15-year license to operate a gaming hall in Granada. The facility will be part of the tourism complex of Monachil, which includes a hotel with meeting space, sports areas and restaurants.
Novomatic’s bid exceeded the requirements of the tender, with 1,670 square meters (17,975 square feet) of gaming space, a bar and restaurant, entertainment facilities and a 213-vehicle parking area.
Casino de Monachil “will become an important part of Monachil’s tourist industry” and will also create 200 new jobs in the region, reported Legal Gambling and the Law. The location in the scenic Sierra Nevada mountain range is considered advantageous. Legal Gambling reported that there was “no opposition from the locals, who were more than willing to welcome the new casino.”
Novomatic’s rivals in the license bidding included Grupo Orenes and Cirsa.
Analysts forecast that the property will draw 50,000 visitors in its first year. No timeline has been announced for the opening.
