Gulf Coast Revenues Enhance Mississippi Results

Thanks to February reports from Mississippi's 12 coastal casinos, revenue rose 10 percent compared to February 2015. Statewide, February marked the seventh of 12 months in which revenue increased, up 5 percent to $190 million compared to $181 million a year ago. Mississippi River operations remained about the same.

In Mississippi, February 2016 was the seventh out of the last 12 months in which revenue rose statewide, according to Mississippi Revenue Department figures. In February 2016, casinos statewide won 0 million, an increase of 5 percent from 1 million in February 2015. Revenue has grown strongly along the coast, while decreases along the Mississippi River tended to flatten out.

At the state’s 12 coastal casinos, gamblers lost $105 million, or 10 percent more than in February 2015. The Scarlet Pearl Casino opened in D’Iberville in December with strong ongoing performance.

The state’s 16 Mississippi River casinos won $86 million, about the same as February 2015.

Last year, Mississippi gambling revenue rose for only the second time in eight years.
