With preliminary site work completed this winter on Gun Lake Casino’s million expansion, construction crews have begun demolition, footings and foundations. The Wayland, Michigan property will be doubled in size when it opens in summer 2017, adding 73,000 square feet to the existing 83,000 square foot facility. Ed Pigeon, acting chairman of the tribe and casino board, said, “This million expansion will produce economic growth and more career opportunities for our tribal citizens and our friends and neighbors here in West Michigan. We are proud to make a significant investment in our property for the enjoyment of guests, which in turn will bring increased benefits to the local community.”
The project has created 400 construction jobs, and the completed expansion will add 100 new employees for a total of 900-plus.
The expanded casino will offer a total of 2,050 electronic gaming machines and 42 table games and a new high limit area. The project also will add a
300-seat multi-station buffet, and the Stage 131 entertainment lounge will be doubled in size to attract regional performers along with first-rate local talent.
Gun Lake Casino team members will benefit from a new dining room and lounge with a break room, café and personal lockers.
Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Authority Chief Executive Officer John Shagonaby said, “This is a major step forward in the development of Gun Lake Casino as a top-tier gaming entertainment venue. The addition of more gaming space, premiere buffet dining and headline entertainers puts our property on par with any in the Midwest.”
Gun Lake Casino Vice President and General Manager Brent Arena said, “Our guests are going to be thrilled with the new gaming, dining and entertainment amenities we will offer here at Gun Lake Casino. An already lively, yet comfortable and fun place for the best entertainment just got better.”
