Cordish Companies, which has begun construction to convert a former Bon-Ton department store into the company’s first satellite “mini-casino” at a Western Pennsylvania mall, is mulling possible dining venues, which may include an outlet by celebrity chef Guy Fieri.
Cordish already has a relationship with Fieri, who opened Guy Fieri’s Taco Joint at the Baltimore company’s Teas Live! entertainment venue last summer. Fieri is one of the options being considered for Pennsylvania, according to a report in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Renderings Cordish provided to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board include a PBR bar complete with mechanical bull and dance floor as the company offers in Texas in partnership with the Professional Bull Riders organization. The venue also will have a sports book.
Plans for the mini-casino, at Westmoreland Mall in Hempfield, were inherited by Cordish when its former partner, Greenwood Gaming, bought out Cordish in Stadium Casino, the owner of the second casino license in Philadelphia. The mini-casino license is approved under the main Category 2 casino license for Live! Casino in South Philadelphia, which will open around the same time as the mini-casino.
