GVC Exits Czech Market

GVC Holdings says it will not seek licensing in the Czech Republic and advised its customers there that play has been stopped and they should withdraw their accounts. Czech gambling authorities place a 23 percent tax on sports betting revenues and a 35 percent tax on casino slots play.

GVC Holdings has announced that it is suspending its gambling services in the Czech Republic save for allowing players there to withdraw money from their accounts.

The company will not seek licensing in the country.

The company said it supports of the Czech government’s attempt to stabilize its online gambling market, but is still exiting the country. The Czech Republic taxes sports betting revenues at 23 percent slots play at 35 percent.

Amaya brand PokerStars is the only international casino gaming operator to successfully launch in the Czech regulated market. The company received a Czech license in February.
