GVC Holdings tapped behavioral addiction expert and gambling psychologist Dr. Mark Griffiths as an advisor on player protections and the development of the firm’s safer play technologies. Griffiths, who runs gambling addiction research for Nottingham Trent University, will audit GVC’s policies, procedures and protocols as it pertains to development of safer gambling for the company’s patrons.
Griffiths’ insight and analysis will be key to GVC’s new Advanced Responsibility & Care program, which supports proprietary technologies and systems to better detect problem gambling, harm preventions and optimize group customer care on critical interventions, according to SBCNews.
He will also advise GVC on its existing multi-million-dollar partnership with Harvard Medical School in an effort to secure the rapid multi-state growth of its U.S. BetMGM joint venture.
“We know that the most responsible operator will also be the most successful operator, which is at the heart of our new strategy,” said Shay Segev, GVC CEO. “Our investments in new technologies, and partnership with Dr Griffiths and Harvard, underpin our firm commitment to providing customers with the safest and most enjoyable player experience possible.”
Griffiths said joining GVC gives him an unprecedented opportunity to help deliver innovative technological advances supported by scientific research to improve player protection. “I plan to apply the understanding and specialist expertise built over a long career in psychology to reduce the risks of problem play,” he said.
