Cure Land Company of Lakeshore, Mississippi recently filed an application with the Mississippi Gaming Commission for approval of a 98.5-acre tract in Lakeshore, a remote beachfront area in Hancock County, for a casino to be located less than two miles from the Silver Slipper Casino in Bay St. Louis.
One of the largest landowners in the county, officials at Cure Land Company said the proposed casino would have at least a 40,000 square foot gaming floor with 1,100 slot machines and 22 table games, plus a 300-room hotel. Gaming Commission Executive Director Allen Godfrey said site approval for the proposed casino could be on agenda in the next couple of months.
Cure Land also is the landlord of the Silver Slipper, the closest casino to New Orleans. It has offered sports betting since last year. Full House Resorts Chief Financial Officer Lewis Fanger said, “It’s really firing on all cylinders right now. If you look at revenues, they’re up 20 percent for the quarter,” and adjusted EBITDA was up 74 percent, “the highest- ever fourth quarter for EBITDA of the property.”
Silver Slipper General Manager John Ferrucci said thanks to booming business, the property will add a second hotel tower including a convention center, meeting rooms and restaurant on a pier overlooking the water. He added a corridor will connect the two hotels.
