Hard Rock Begins Sacramento Casino Expansion

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain has begun two projects totaling $65 million. They include the addition of a gas station, Rocktane Gas and Smoke and a 2,500 event venue called Hard Rock Live.

The project is expected to be completed May 2022.

The gas station will have 16 pumps and a 24/7 smoke shop and convenience store. The 65,000 square foot event venue will be convertible into an emergency shelter.

According to Glenda Nelson, chairwoman of the Enterprise Rancheria, “We would set up the Hard Rock Live by bringing in all the cots and necessities for sleeping and for food, and any needs the community could have.”

The tribe saw the need for such a facility when, during 2017 Oroville Damn Crisis, when the dam’s spillways were damaged, causing more than 180,000 people living along the Feather River to be evacuated.

Casino President Mark Birtha said in a statement, “Rocktane Gas & Smoke is the second Hard Rock branded gas station – the first on the West Coast right here in Northern California.” He added, “What’s happening here in Sacramento will become the prototype for similar amenities at Hard Rock International properties worldwide.”

He added, “We are committed to growing our property in a way that provides our customers, and our team members, unique experiences and unparalleled value. And, at the same time, reinvests in our local community to create employment and additional benefits to the overall economy.”
