At Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee, North Carolina, work is nearly complete on a $250 million expansion.
Ground was broken on the project in June 2018, but Covid-19 slowed construction of the project. It adds a 19-story hotel tower, the property’s fourth, with add 725 rooms and seven suites. A blue marble wall lined with wine bottles will complement a 50-seat lobby bar and lounge. A terrace pool will be located on the second floor.
In addition, the new three-level, 83,000-square-foot Cherokee Convention Center will more than triple the current meeting space. It will include a 32,000-square-foot ballroom and an exhibition hall.
Also on the premises is the Wicked Weed Brewpub, which opened in April with a menu of 24 signature local craft beers and ciders from the popular Wicked Weed Brewery in Ashville. The 1,200-sqaure-foot restaurant features a 36-seat main bar and walk-up tasting bar.
The Book sportsbook, which opened in March, is the first of its kind in North Carolina. It features a 90-foot ultra-high-definition screen, plush chairs with USB charging ports and full beverage service. In addition, the 34-table World Series of Poker room opened in September 2020, offering eight-handed cash games and five spots.
The Myst Bar, which opened in January, offers both bar and lounge seating, high-definition TVs and an elevated center stage with an immersive light and sound experience.
“We are thrilled to see this project come to completion and to be able to offer our guests new amenities and offerings,” said Brooks Robinson, regional senior vice president and general manager at Harrah’s Cherokee Casinos.
“This expansion has been an integral component to our property and community’s growth and helps us further show that Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort is truly a destination that is unlike any other in the Carolinas. We look forward to welcoming both new and returning visitors to see the results of this project.”
