Harrah’s Northern California Celebrates Opening

The Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians last week celebrated the grand opening of Harrah’s Northern California. The casino has 950 slots, 20 tables and dining.

Harrah’s Northern California, owned by the Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians, celebrated its grand opening last weekend.

The 71,000 square foot casino, 32 miles from Sacramento, has 950 slots, 20 gaming tables, a full-service restaurant and three other dining options.

Chairman Rhonda Pope-Flores said in a statement, “This weekend was as much a celebration of opening as it was a ‘thank you’ to the local community and our guests who have been so supportive of the development.”

She continued, “The Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians have a long history of hospitality and this weekend was just the start of many celebrations we plan to bring to the community.”

The casino opening followed ten years of efforts by the tribe before it eventually overcame local opposition over the span of four federal court decisions. The final decision came from the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. With that decision under its belt the tribe joined forces with Caesars Entertainment. Groundbreaking followed April 2018.
