Harrah’s So Cal Resort GM Retiring

The longtime general manager of Harrah’s Southern California Resort is retiring. Janet Beronio has seen many changes in the 13 years she has been in charge of the casino resort.

After 13 years managing Harrah’s Southern California Resort near San Diego, California Janet Beronio is ready to step down

During Beronio’s tenure the casino resort built its first hotel tower and a couple of years ago added the second tower. “It has seemed pretty much continuous growth ever since then,” she told the Roadrunner.

Beronio is known for her hands on touch and for walking through the casino greeting almost all of the 1,700 employees by name.

During those 13 years Beronio has overseen the resort’s transition from a mainly local casino to a regional and even national destination. A fact that was recognized when in 2014 it was rebranded from Harrah’s Rincon Casino (after the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians) to Harrah’s So Cal Resort. Harrah’s manages the casino for the tribe under a contract.

Beronio has been in the casino business for 35 years, and is currently regional president for Harrah’s, also in charge of Harrah’s Ak-Chin in Arizona.

“I think the impact on the tribe of what they have accomplished has been one of the most satisfying things about this job,” says Beronio, when asked what she is most proud of.
