Hawaiian Gardens, a card room in Los Angeles County’s smallest city, is nearing the completion of its million renovation, which is actually more of a construction job than a do over.
The renovation was originally supposed to cost $45 million. According to General Manager Rob Sarabi that estimate kept growing.
“A little but here, and a little bit there, and the project added up to $90 million,” he told the Daily Breeze. Now it is envisioned as a 200,000 square foot building that will be able to accommodate as many as 7,000 visitors at 300 tables. Besides poker it will offer blackjack, EZ baccarat and pai gow poker.
One thing it will offer that should please customers is more legroom. Sarabi told the Breeze, “The most important thing in the design is comfort and space. When we were in the tent, you couldn’t even walk by, because the tables were so close. We wanted to give the customer a very mellow, relaxed place to play.”
The facility will also have a new bar, VIP gaming area, special events space and VIP rooms upstairs.
