High 5 Games, a supplier of content to some of the largest slot manufacturers in the industry, has filed suit against leading slot manufacturer International Game Technology, alleging breach of contract on nearly 100 IGT titles that represent some of the manufacturer’s most popular games.
The lawsuit, filed in Illinois Northern District Court in Chicago, alleges that IGT has failed to pay royalties on 81 games supplied by High 5, and asks the court to force IGT to cease operation not only of those titles, but other High 5 games to which IGT licenses the rights.
The 81 named games include popular titles such as Wheel of Fortune Big Money series, Sex and the City MultiPLAY, Monopoly Dream Life, Transformers Battle of Cybertron, the End2End series, the Greenback Attack series, Alice in Wonderland, Ghostbusters, ELVIS and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
Other High 5 games licensed by IGT that would be affected by an adverse ruling include hits such as DaVinci Diamonds, Golden Goddess, Black Widow and Cats. In all, the games represent nearly $200 million in revenue for IGT.
It is unclear how the implications of the lawsuit, if successful, would affect the pending acquisition of IGT by lottery giant GTECH, which is still going through regulatory approvals.
