Ho Chunk Project Forward Progressing

Phase 1 of the Ho Chunk Tribe's Project Forward recently debuted at the Ho Chunk Casino in the Wisconsin Dells. The colors and finishes were inspired by Ho Chunk culture. The total $153 million expansion effort, expected to be completed in 2018, includes the tribe's Black River Falls and Wittenberg casinos.

A special celebration was held May 11 in open Phase 1 of an extensive expansion project at the Ho Chunk Tribe’s Ho Chunk Casino in the Wisconsin Dells in Baraboo. Phase 1 is a part of a 3 million expansion project, named Ho Chunk Project Forward, that also includes the Black River Falls and Wittenberg Casino properties and is expected to be completed in 2018.

H Chunk Executive Manager Casey Fitzpatrick said, “I am excited about the Phase 1 expansions. The design concept from the architecture including the colors, finishes and features was inspired by the Ho Chunk culture and regional Wisconsin Dells landscape. The gradient patterns were inspired by motion and the flow of water around this region. It is really great to see the circular flow pattern around the property. It adds a distinct path around the casino gaming floor that will serve well, offering a more direct path.”

Ho-Chunk spokesman Dave Abangan said, “This is an ongoing project. We are trying to minimize the impact of the construction, making it easy for people to get to the places they need to, without distraction. It is a great project. We are looking forward to the full completion of the project in 2018 which will coincide with our 25th anniversary.”

Fitzpatrick noted Miron Construction is the main contractor for the entire project. “It is really benefitting the community by offering local subcontracting for the duration of the project. They have been really great to work with and are really doing a wonderful job,” Fitzpatrick said.
