Hollywood Casino Columbus Slow in Revising Neighborhood

The Hollywood Casino Columbus in Ohio has been slow to effect an economic revival in the city neighborhood where it opened in 2012.

Three years after the opening of the Hollywood Casino Columbus the revival of the West Side of the city is still slow to take effect.

The $350 million casino opened in 2012 and employs 950.

However, the Westland Mall remains closed, with no plans to reopen it, and plans are to close the nearby Target Store.

These facts came out last week during a roundtable discussion sponsored by the American Gaming Association last week with state Reps. Steve Stivers and Joyce Beatty.

According to Stivers, “We all have to get engaged and involved to bring other economic activity and opportunity to the folks that live out here because we haven’t done enough.” He added, “As we drove by, I saw some folks hanging out on the corner because that’s what they do now because they don’t have jobs. So we still have more work to do and I’m excited to do that.”
