Penn National Gaming has asked the West Virginia Lottery Commission (WVLC) to authorize implementation of technology from Acres Manufacturing to enable cashless gaming at the casino. The operator has already implemented the technology at its Hollywood Casino operations in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan.
However, some commission members are raising concerns. Chairman Ken Greear said the commission wants to study the technology further. “It’s just a matter of making sure the players do not have something that interrupts and or makes their enjoyment of the game more cumbersome or something that doesn’t work well,” Greear told MetroNews. Commissioners want to see the technology in action before issuing final approval.
Scott Saunders, the casino’s vice president and general manager, said the technology could be launched late this year. “I think the digital wallet and digital platform is the way many businesses are going, and we want to make sure we are a part of that moving forward,” Saunders told MetroNews.
