Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves nominated Kent Nicaud, president and chief executive officer at Memorial Hospital Gulfport, to the Mississippi Gaming Commission.
Nicaud will serve the remainder of the 4-year term of Alben Hopkins Sr., who died at age 81 on February 12 and was a commissioner for eight years. Nicaud’s term became effective March 8 and will end September 30, 2025.
The nomination still must be approved by the state Senate via Senate Bill SN 90, which was referred to the Senate Gaming Committee on March 10.
Nicaud was a consultant with Memorial Hospital Gulfport in 1996 and became an employee in 2008. He was named chief operating officer in 2010 and attained his current position in 2018. Nicaud attended Tulane University for undergraduate and graduate studies through its executive MBA program.
Reeves can name Nicaud or one of the other two commissioners, Tom Gresham or Francis Lee, to serve as Gaming Commission chairman.
