Idaho Tribe Announce $35 Million Expansion

Construction could begin in August on a $35.2 million expansion at the Shoshone-Bannock Tribe's Fort Hall Casino & Hotel in Idaho. The plan includes a new casino, hotel and bar, and converting the current casino into a bingo hall. Tribal members will vote May 29 if liquor may be sold at the new casino.

The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes in Idaho recently announced a .2 million expansion at their Fort Hall Casino & Hotel. Construction could begin in mid-August.

Tribal spokeswoman Randy L’Teton said a new casino could be added onto the Events Center, and the current casino would become a bingo hall. A new hotel and bar also are included in the plans.

Tribal members will be asked as part of the general election on May 29 if liquor can be sold at the casino as part of the expansion. In 2012, tribal members approved the sale of wine and beer as the Shoshone-Bannock Hotel and Events Center, but the current rules for serving and possessing alcohol anywhere on the property are very restrictive.
