iGaming Up 29.9 percent in Denmark

Denmark’s online gaming market increased by 29.9 percent in May over the year before. However, it also experienced a 24.8 decline from April. The reopening of brick-and-mortar casinos is a factor.

iGaming Up 29.9 percent in Denmark

Online gaming revenue in Denmark was $82.5 million in May, a 29.9 percent increase over 2020 but a 24.8 percent drop from the month before.

The reopening of brick-and-mortar casinos following the relaxation of Covid restrictions was seen as the primary cause of the revenue decline.

Sports wagering profits declined 24.8 percent from April, but increased 83.5 percent from a year ago when most sports around the globe were in hiatus due to the pandemic.

Online casino revenue increased 2.7 percent from 2020 and declined 3.5 percent from April.

Danish casinos had been set to open again in April, but that was pushed back to give time for more vaccinates to be administered.
