IGT, Aruze Sign Cross-Licensing Agreement

Aruze Gaming becomes the latest rival of slot leader International Game Technology to sign a cross-licensing agreement allowing it to use patented IGT game features.

Leading slot manufacturer International Game Technology announced that it has signed a cross-licensing agreement with rival slot-maker Aruze Gaming, under which Aruze will pay licensing fees to IGT to offer patented IGT game features on Aruze slots.

It is the second cross-licensing agreement IGT has signed with competing manufacturers in as many weeks, coming on the heels of a similar agreement signed with Chicago-area supplier Incredible Technologies.

“This cross-licensing agreement with Aruze Gaming continues IGT’s positive momentum toward investing in the growth of the gaming industry while protecting our intellectual property,” said Michael Prescott, IGT senior vice president and general counsel, North America gaming and interactive. “We are very pleased that IGT’s patented game features have inspired a significant amount of licensing interest from such a diverse range of gaming companies.”
