IGT Releases 11th Annual Sustainability Report

International Game Technology has released its 11th annual Sustainability Report, which emphasizes its drive to maintain responsible corporate citizenship.

Gaming supplier International Game Technology announced the release of its 11th annual Sustainability Report, demonstrating its drive to create value globally, increase its socially responsible corporate citizenship, and report on its activities transparently.

“This year’s Sustainability Report represents our ongoing pledge to sustainably grow our industry and the communities we serve,” said IGT CEO Marco Sala. “In addition to enhancing our leading position in the market as a global innovator in the gaming business, IGT continues to strengthen its corporate citizenship.”

This year’s report features 2017 data showing IGT’s achievements in generating value for each of its stakeholder groups, including employees, customers, communities, and suppliers.

Highlights include:

Fostering Responsible Gaming
“Responsible gaming is vital to the sustainability of the industry and the safety of players,” the company said in its statement announcing the report. “To support safe and responsible gaming environments, IGT adopts industry best practices and applies international standards.”

The company’s responsible gaming goals include:

  • Promote protective tools to prevent problem gambling;
  • Support responsible gaming organizations that address problem gambling; and,
  • Prevent underage gambling.

The report describes how the company’s products, systems and portals include player protection and security tools to safeguard player interests and address regulators’ concerns.

Engaging Employees
“IGT employs more than 12,000 employees and operates in more than 100 countries around the globe,” the company said in its statement. “With its diverse community, the company is developing a culture that adheres to the following values: passionate, responsible, authentic, collaborative, and pioneering. Enhancing Customers
“The company maintains a Customer First philosophy, and the report illustrates its approaches to supplying customers with resources and expertise to help them achieve their goals. IGT continuously conducts research and pilot projects with customers, retailers, and consumers around the world to provide innovative cross-channel products and services.”

Supporting Communities
“IGT supports hundreds of educational, social, and cultural initiatives that enrich and strengthen its communities. One example featured in the report is the company’s After School Advantage program, its longest-running educational program that provides at-risk youth with access to computers. Since its inception in 1999, IGT has installed nearly 300 computer labs throughout the U.S., as well as Barbados, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Kitts, Antigua, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.”

Growing with the Supply Chain
“IGT collaborates with suppliers that can ensure high-quality goods and services, and meet high economic, ethical and socio-environmental standards. The report describes how the company mitigates the risk of exposure in its supply chain, and undertakes preventive actions to ensure human rights are protected within its supply chain now and in the future.”

Caring for the Environment
“IGT is committed to pioneering the future of environmental management systems and reducing its environmental impact. The report accounts for the company’s efforts in 2017 to reduce its material and energy consumption and emissions.”

The report applies the latest Sustainability Reporting Standards issued by Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), which are the most widespread international standards used by organizations to report their sustainability impact and performance. These standards require submission and analysis of comprehensive data regarding a wide range of corporate social responsibility indicators. In addition, IGT voluntarily retained independent third-party auditor EY for a limited assurance engagement to verify the contents of the report.
