Donald Sweitzer, government affairs liaison for International Game Technology for the past 20 years, announced that he will retire at the end of the month.
Sweitzer is currently chairman of IGT Global Solutions Corp.
“Don’s expertise building and nurturing relationships with state and commercial partners around the world, along with his insights into complex geopolitical situations, have been important to IGT’s continued expansion and leading market position,” IGT CEO Marco Sala said in a statement.
Sweitzer came to IGT through its 2014 merger with lottery giant GTECH. He joined that company in 1998. Before joining GTECH, Sweitzer had prominent roles federal and state politics.
“I can honestly say I have enjoyed coming to work every single day during my time here, and I love the people in this company,” Sweitzer said in a statement. “It’s now a good time in the business to retire on a positive note, with a spectacular future ahead for IGT.”
Sweitzer is a member of the Lottery Industry Hall of Fame.
