Eldorado Resorts, the new owner of Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin, Illinois, recently changed the hours at two of the property’s restaurants. As of October 1, the Indulge Show Kitchen Buffet is closed Monday and Tuesday, and Prime BurgerHouse opens from 4 p.m. to midnight on Wednesday and Thursday. Spokeswoman Marilou Pilman said, “We conducted a competitive analysis and found that most of the casinos in our market close their restaurants on Mondays and Tuesdays. The changes were made in an effort to align our restaurant hours with the property’s day-to-day business levels.”
The buffet at Rivers Casino in Des Plaines is open seven days a week. The buffets at Hollywood Casino in Joliet and Hollywood Casino in Aurora are closed Monday and Tuesday and the buffet at Harrah’s Casino in Joliet is closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
Eldorado Resorts acquired Grand Victoria Casino for $327.5 million in August. At that time, Eldorado Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gary Carano said, “We intend to quickly implement our proven integration and operating strategies, allowing us to increase margins and cash flow from the property.” Carano added, “Our immediate focus is on further enhancing the guest experience and operating results as there is no need to undertake capital investments at the property beyond normal maintenance expenses.”
From January through September, Grand Victoria Casino posted $121.8 million in revenue, a 6.7 percent drop compared to the same time period last year, according to the Illinois Gaming Board. Out of Illinois’ 10 casinos, only Rivers Casino in Des Plaines reported increased revenue for 2018 over 2017.
Grand Victoria Casino’s other dining options include Buckinghams Steakhouse & Lounge, closed Monday and Tuesday, and the 24-hour Crave Deli.
