In Illinois, the official grand opening of the Golden Nugget Danville Casino occurred on Friday, August 4. The property opened May 27 but, as Marketing Director Jo Green told WCIA, “We just want to have fun. We’ve been open, and this is our way of being official. We’ve not had a celebration.”
Among the highlights were a ribbon-cutting ceremony, comments from local officials including Danville Mayor Rickey Williams Jr., live music, karaoke, photos with Las Vegas-style showgirls, promotions and giveaways of t-shirts, umbrellas and other Golden Nugget Danville branded items.
As part of the festivities, the Boys & Girls Club of Danville will receive a check for $1 million from casino developers Wilmorite Construction and the Wilmot family, in association with Golden Nugget. It’s the second of Golden Nugget’s commitment to give $3 million in a one-time donation. The first $1 million went to the Danville Riverfront Improvement Project and the third will go to the Danville Municipal Project.
Golden Nugget Danville offers 500 slot machines and 14 table games, plus the Saltgrass Steak House and other amenities.
