Indian Casino Operator Sues Goa Over License Fees

Delta Corp., which operates casinos in India, is suing the state government of Goa over license fees that were imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns, when casinos were not able to operate.

According to the lawsuit, “the casinos operated by the company and its subsidiaries were not operational between 1st April 2020 and 31st October 2020 and between 1st May 2021 and 30th September 2021 on account of COVID-19 related restrictions.” It adds that Goa has demanded payment of the license fees—with interest.

Delta operates Deltin Royale and Deltin JAQK ship casinos and the floating hotel casino King Casino, in Goa and other casinos in Nepal and Sikkim.
