Golden Gaming International says it has secured a gaming license and soon will open the first gaming establishment in Sikkim.

The 8,000-square-foot facility will provide online betting and sports wagering for the first time in Sikkim and will provide online wagering to customers throughout the state of Sikkim.

“Our venture is the first such initiative in the country which will bring fiscal revenues to the state of Sikkim as well as provide employment to local youth and establishment of self-sustenance counters,” Golden Gaming International Director Manoj Sethi said in a statement.

He says there’s strong support for legalizing gaming, and the Sikkim model is a great start.

“Recently, even the Justice Lodha committee report has asked state governments to legalize gambling,” Sethi said. “All other state governments should also study the unique model created by the Sikkim government and legalize, regulate and license gambling and betting.”

The gaming facility is being built on the New Market Gangtok and is to include gaming kiosks and wager zones for sporting events, where patrons can watch and wager on their favorite teams.

A planned opening date was not announced.
