All-In Diversity Project co-founder Kelly Kehn, SBC Events’ VP of Americas Sue Schneider and former Pinnacle Chief Executive Paris Smith are the executives behind Defy the Odds.

The trio is committed to encouraging “fresh perspectives and bold ideas” to drive change and disruption in the gaming industry.

Defy the Odds aims to create a platform where founders can connect to peers and industry experts, sharing knowledge and experience to drive their companies’ growth, it said in a press release issued September 3.

It is open to startups at any stage and will offer tailored support for each specific business.

“Our goal with Defy the Odds is to uncover the next big ideas in gaming and help them thrive,” Schneider explained. “We believe that by supporting a diverse range of founders through our network, we will bridge innovation with opportunity and push the boundaries of what’s possible in this industry.”

Defy the Odds Will Bring New Blood into Gaming

In particular Defy the Odds seeks to support underrepresented founding teams. Helping these demographics grow their industry profile will be a key part of its work, Kehn said.

“We see incredible potential in founders who bring new energy and ideas to the space, but need the social capital and support on navigating the nuances of the sector,” she explained.

The constant evolution of the gaming industry means a focus on disruptive new companies will provide a better understanding of where the industry is headed, Smith added.

“Defy the Odds is focused on identifying founders who not only have innovative ideas but also a deep understanding of how to create products that resonate with the market’s future needs. We’re committed to helping these entrepreneurs shape the next generation of gaming experiences.”
