Interblock’s Connelly: Pandemic Increased ETG Interest

John Connelly, global chief executive of electronic table game supplier Interblock, says the Covid-19 pandemic has definitely heightened worldwide operator interest in ETG products.

Speaking with Fantini Research founder Frank Fantini in one of Fantini’s series of CEO interviews, Connelly said the desire for safety and minimization of the spread of the Covid-19 view has caused more operators to turn to ETGs as a safe alternative, noting Interblock’s stadium ETG setups—in which up to hundreds of betting terminals are linked to live table games—as his company’s fastest-growing products.

“That social distancing aspect—for players and dealers—that sense of comfort and security, is definitely driving that demand,” Connelly said. “We are experiencing one to two stadium installs per week at the moment.”

Connelly suggested that with electronic table games, different player demographics required “different types of product: it’s not one size fits all. On a casino floor, the ability to offer multiple distribution channels on electronic tables games is attracting a lot of new players. It’s incremental revenue.

“Quite frankly, with what’s going on in the world today, the ability to reduce costs for operators is very appealing.”
