Imperial Pacific International, whose eponymous resort (l.) on Saipan is up and running after a destructive typhoon in October, is looking forward to doing big business during Chinese New Year celebrations in February.

With an elaborate new dragon-shaped chandelier in its lobby signifying good fortune, and damage from an October typhoon now repaired, Imperial Pacific International is looking ahead to a lucky Chinese New Year in February.

Speaking to Inside Asian Gaming earlier this month, IPI Chairman Mark Brown said many of the resort’s VIP players came back in December, two months after Typhoon Yutu forced the airport and multiple businesses to temporarily shut down.

“Now that the island is coming back, the airport is fully open, all flights have returned, the island is almost back,” said Brown. “Our VIPs started to come back last month and we are all looking forward to Chinese New Year.”

He said the massive dragon chandelier now being installed in the main lobby will be a crowd-pleaser. “There are two actual dragons pointing inward facing each other,” Brown said. “We hope to have the Dragons’ ‘skeletons’ up by Chinese New Year but the whole completed process will take four or five weeks for each dragon.

“There is an incredible light show when completed with the large video ball in the center, the video ceilings and the large video wall behind the front desk. Like in Vegas and Macau, it will include a timed show periodically going on throughout the day.”
